Michael Deveau
Dr. Michael Deveau is a board-certified veterinary radiation oncologist with over 16 years of specialized experience treating cancer in companion animals. He holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree and a Master's of Science in Medical Physics, giving him exceptional expertise in radiation physics, dosimetry, and advanced treatment planning.
Dr. Deveau helped evolve the adaptation of helical tomotherapy, a highly precise, image-guided form of intensity-modulated radiation therapy, to veterinary patients, enabling conformal dose delivery that targets complex tumors while sparing healthy tissues and reducing side effects. This innovative approach addresses key limitations in traditional veterinary radiation oncology, such as irregular target geometries, sensitive critical structures, and extended treatment fields. He previously held the prestigious Katherine and Rebecca Rochelle Chair in Oncology at Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, where he was recognized in 2016 for building the college's radiation therapy program and developing state-of-the-art strategies. As Clinical Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology, he continues to advance comparative oncology by translating human-side techniques to improve pet care.
Dr. Deveau is dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based or fundamentally sound approaches that prioritize tumor control, minimal toxicity, and quality of life for pets and their families. In his private practice role, he delivers this cutting-edge, personalized radiation oncology expertise to referring veterinarians and pet owners.
