Dr. Sommer grew up in a small town in North Dakota and came to veterinary medicine through a unique path. She didn’t grow up with pets, but her interest in animals developed from spending time with the pets of friends and family.

She earned her Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University, working as a veterinary assistant during her undergraduate years, and went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, in 2025. Dr. Sommer is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to pets and their families in emergency situations.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dog, Brian, reading, paddle boarding, and crocheting.
